Matthias Mayer won for the first time at Stelvio!

Matthias Mayer (AUT): "It’s a special feeling to win here, it’s a classic race. I was on the podium last year and two years ago with the Super-G and now the victory feels amazing. It is a very difficult slope, a tough race and I’m so happy. I had a good season last year with some victories and now I’m ready for the next challenges.
The biggest difficulties of Stelvio? It’s difficult from start to finish, there are a lot curves, you need a lot of power. The visibility is very difficult and also the snow conditions. It’s a difficult race. I’m going to rest a little in the next few day and then some easy training session. January be a very important month for every skier".

Vincent Kriechmayr (AUT): "Once again on the podium +0.04 behind Matthias is better than 0.80” yesterday. I’m really close, -0.02 ahead of Urs. I’m really happy with my race today and my result. It’s easy to say where I lost a few hundredths, there are so many turns at the Stelvio but I think in the middle part I lost a little bit too much time against Matthias, but the rest was pretty good. The first races this year weren’t easy and I’m happy with these last races of 2020. I’m looking for the best the future. Today it was much easier than the second training, the snow was a little bit slower and it wasn’t as bumpy as in the second training. Stelvio was a little bit easier to ski than last year. That’s the reason why we’re so close today but of course it’s one of the toughest races of the season, after Kitzbühel maybe. Matthias is a great skier and it’s not a pain to be behind him".

Urs Kryenbuehl (SUI):  "Stelvio is bumpy and dark and icy. It’s one of the most difficult slopes of the whole World Tour and I’m happy I’m safe down and I had a good race. We’re all super close, sometimes you’re in front and sometimes you’re behind. I’m happy. I didn’t imagine to be third, I knew I was better than in training but in training I wasn’t that fast. It would be cool to be as fast in Wengen, a place I’m never that fast".
