The Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr is the fastest of today's second training in Bormio. The DH race is the 5th in calendar and is scheduled for tomorrow at 11.30 am. On a beautiful day of sun with temperatures around zero, he's first (1'57 "84) followed by the Norwegian Alexander Kilde (+0.04) and the Austrian Daniel Hemetsberger (+0.19). Hemetsberger is 27 years old, started with bib 37 and was second in yesterday's training. The best one of the Azzurri is Dominik Paris, 8th place (+0.61) from Kriechmayr. Mattia Casse did well too, 15th (+1.06).

But times of these training must be considered carefully. The reason is simple: basically all the best athletes on the piste didn't push on the accelerator from the first to the last meter of the Stelvio, because it's not easy to get rid of the accumulated lactic acid in only 24 hours. From this point of view, the Stelvio piste is terrible. The speed is always high, the ice of these days and the undulations of the bottom make skis vibrate, muscles need to work hard and it's not easy to recover. It's really like skiing on the back of a dragon.

Innerhofer is among the favorites of this fascinating DH and Domme Paris, the winner of last year's edition, too. They will be the aces in the hole for Italy on the Stelvio, after Peter Fill decided to not take part due to injury. Tomorrow the competition will be a cool one. Kriechmayr, Reichelt, Meyer, Franz, Svindal, Jansrud, Kilde, Feuz, Caviezel, Theau, Clarey, everyone can clean out on the Stelvio. It is not a piste for surprises, only the real champions win here. Who will win the dragon's back?
